Wet Withdean, Wrexham & Whingers

Brighton 0 Wrexham 0

I had been feeling rough all week, but decided a nice warm cosy pub and a few pints might prepare me for a cold afternoon at Withdean. We watched the Man Utd v Villa match which was fairly dull and before you new it, it was time to get a taxi to Withdean. We arrived at 2.40 which was very early for us and took up our seats in a very cold South Stand.

The pitch was very bumpy and the ball was not running true, but the form that both sides showed was shocking. I thought McPhee did ok but I would not have started him up front on his own.

When we played Wrexham away earlier in the season the match was once again dominated by them, but Zamora showed his class and scored 2 and missed a penalty! Our best chance yesterday fell to Watson after the keeper blocked a shot but he blazed high and wide.

Hart went off after a clash with a centre back, who was himself eventually stretchered off after hobbling off the pitch. It looked fairly nasty and the Albion doctor had a look when he first went off to the bench and told them to get the St Johns Ambulance.

Once Hart had gone he was replaced by Jamie Moralee look-a-like David Lee who was hardly involved. Would Nathan Jones have done better? Lewis never really got going either, it was one of those days when nothing worked and Wrexham actually had most of the ball.

I though we would take over 2nd half with the wind, but it was not to be. In the end we deserved no more than a point, but we remain 6 points clear of 3rd place and Tuesday night gives the team a chance to make amends.

Now on to whingers! We sit just behind the home dugout and just before half time some old 'West Stand' codger with glasses so thick it was unreal, stood behind Taylor and slagged him off. Now Taylor got up and told him to stop moaning and we then joined in and the fool eventually wandered away. As people left before the end several people shouted abuse at the bench.

I think we have the best away support in the Division in terms of noise, numbers and yet more noise, but we must be close at many home games of having the worst home support in terms of people turning on the team and players. I am not a great fan of Taylor but will always support the team 100% at matches, and moan afterwards in the pub or on this list.

Why go if you don't get behind the team. We are called supporters so should support the players on the pitch (even if you think they shouldn't be!)

Roll on tomorrow evening.
