Virgo to appeal, Brighton & West Ham charged

Mark McGhee has looked at the video evidence and believes that Virgo got a straight red purely because of the reaction of the West Ham players.

McGhee told the Official Site, "Mullins overreacted, Carl Fletcher and Tomas Repka got themselves involved and I think it's from that point Adam Virgo ends up getting sent off. I think all he did was put his arms up to protect himself from the onslaught from the players around him.

"I don't think at any point Adam Virgo does anything that can be deemed aggressive, so I think it's fair and right that we should appeal against the straight red card and the accusation of violent conduct."

If the appeal is not succesful the Virgs will miss the next three games, Burnley at home, Ipswich away and then the Rotherham game at home on Dec 4th.

Meanhile both Brighton & West Ham are accused of breaching rule E22a for "failing to ensure their players refrained from violent or threatening or provocative behaviour."

They have until 30 November to respond.
