Virgo at Centre-forward - Masterstroke!

Virgo, who has been a recent regular at Right Back and is seen as a natural Centre back, was given a starting role as the targetman upfront for todays game against Preston. The Albion ran out 1-0 winners today with Virgo producing a Man of the Match performance.

Manager Mark McGhee commenting after the midweek loss to Bristol Rovers in the league cup said that he was still scouring the transfer markets for a big target man.

Speaking tonight McGhee said ""We put Adam Virgo up front because he has a physical presence. Although he is really a centre half I thought it would help us out a little bit, and it worked".

"After our Carling Cup match against Bristol Rovers we watched the video and it was striking how many crosses we missed. We had to improvise"

During the Bristol Rovers match crosses were coming in from both wings, but no-one was there to meet them. We moved Danny Cullip up front for the last ten minutes, but that would not have been a realistic option aginst Preston.

We have a game at Leicester on Monday, Mickey Adams won't be expecting to see Virgo lining up alongside Leon Knight at the Walkers Bowl.
