Last night Brighton Chairman accepted a bid of £250k plus for darren, after having turned down Ipswich bids perviously during the week

Speaking before training today, McGhee told The official Site, "The future and survival of this football club has to go before any other decision. Anyone who is under the impression that we are anything other than on the brink is deluding themselves. The money was necessary to keep the club going and it came just at the right time, so we had to take it."

Ipswich Chairman David Sheepshanks told his club's official website: "I am very pleased that we have been able to recruit Darren to join our promotion bid. After the hardships we have experienced, this is a landmark deal for Ipswich Town Football Club. The fact that we have been able to pay a fee for a player once more symbolises our recovery.

"We remain careful and prudent with our finances, however further investment in loan notes coupled with growing attendances and an attractive FA Cup-tie have all contributed to an improving situation that has enabled the Board to make this investment.

This surely opens the way for Brighton to move for a couple of loan or free players. Top of the list at the moment are Quincy Owusu-Abeyie from Arsenals Youth set up and Mark McCammon from Millwall.
