The Rock is injured !! Barnsley v Brighton Match Report

Last updated : 24 August 2003 By Bob Gear

Cullip was injured after 7 mins, being replaced by Robbie Pethick, who slotted straight into his place alongside Hinsh.

Brighton had the best of the first half with shots from Henderson & Knight not causing problems.

The second half was a different story with Barnsley doing most of the attacking, almost inevitably the goal came midway though the second half.

Former Fulham striker Kevin Betsy got on the end of Tony Gallimore's right-wing free-kick to nod the ball past Brighton keeper Ben Roberts, and it looked like game over.

Then Barnsleys Lumsdon got himself sent off shortly afterwards for a second bookable offence threw the outcome into doubt.

Darius Henderson had a shot blocked late on as the visitors pressed for an equaliser, but Barnsley's defence held firm.

In the final minutes a Simon Rodger header was going to hit the back of the net, until Sasa Ilic in Barnsleys goal amazingly atretched to push it wide.

Luton next on monday at Withdean, a win would keep us up with the contenders.
