Stevie Coppell is cured

Martin Hinshelwood has been moved from his post as First Team Manager and offered a new role as Director of Football.

The new role includes the position of Director of Youth Football that he held before being appointed Manager in the Summer.

Martins record of 14 games, 2 wins, 1 draw includes a current run of 10 straight League defeats.

Coppell was interviewed for the post before Hinshelwoods appointment, but is thought not to have been considered as he wished to bring in his own Number2, whilst Dick Knight wanted to retain his entire back room team.

Ray Lewington is now Manager at Watford, and will not be joining Coppell at the Albion.

Brighton do not have a game until Sheffield Utd at Withdean on October 19th, which gives Coppell the best part of a fortnight to understand the strengths of his squad.

He will already have some idea from his spell at Brentford last Season. Brentford were the only team to take all 6 points from the Albion.

There is no increase in the playing budget for Coppell, but there is thought to be room in the Budget for a couple more signings.
