Seagulls land Ankergren

Brighton have signed former Leeds goalkeeper Casper Ankergren on a two-year deal. The 30-year-old was released by the Yorkshire club in the close season but Poyet has moved to bring in the Dane after he passed a medical. Ankergren is expected to go straight into the Albion squad for their npower League One opening tie at Swindon and could get the nod to start ahead of Michael Poke and Mitch Walker. First-choice Peter Brezovan is nursing a wrist injury and Poyet was keen to bring in a senior keeper for the start of the season. The Withdean boss told the club's official website: "Goalkeeper is a key position in the team, and with Peter Brezovan injured, we wanted to bring some experience to that position. "Casper brings that experience and has played at this level and higher. I have worked with him at Leeds United, and know exactly what he is capable of, he also knows what it takes to get promoted from League One."
