Ravens View of Yeovil

We parked in the away car park, I met Liz who was staying down as working nearby today. We tried to get in the social club but no luck, so it was in the ground by about 7.10 and 35 minutes to waste before KO.

A good Albion following (my estimate would be 600), but no roof meant not much noise. Wilkins spoke to us as he collected some balls and thanked us for travelling, the players even clapped us as they warmed up.

Not sure what happened to Frutos and Molango but no sign of them in the squad, and Henderson reaplced Kuipers in goal. The bench was Rents, Robinson, Kuipers, Gatting and Elphick. Carpenter was in for the injured Reid and Fraser for Frutos.

The night then went rapidly down hill. The only positive was that we were slightly better than at Carlisle, but only just.

After 6 minutes Jones found Stewart and he was given acres of space and curled the ball into the top corner.

We couldnt pass, we didnt create chances, we couldnt inject pace into the game and we didnt look like scoring. As for our corners, 9 out of 10 found the first defender!

Every now and then Yeovil did attack with pace and looked slightly more dangerous than us. 2nd half and we finally had a shot with about 15 minutes left, Hammonds shot was palmed out by the keeper, either side of him and it was 1-1.

With 10 minutes left we got a free kick on the edge of the box, perfect shooting range, but we tried some intricate passing move that ended up with us passing the ball to a Yeovil player.

Within minutes they broke free, the forward squared the ball across goal to Gray and it was 0-2.

Santos spent the last 10 minutes up front getting in everyones way. What was the point with 3 forwards on the pitch?

At the end most people just walked out and only a handfull clapped the team. It was another depressingly poor, inept display.

If as Dick Knight has implied we have had some high quality applications for the managers job, time to get them on the phone and in charge for Saturday.

Henderson - 6 couldnt do anything about the 2 goals, only had 1 other save to make

El-Abd - 5 exposed at times

Santos - 6 much better game than Saturday, but was at fault for the first goal

Lynch - 6 as above

Mayo - 4 poor poor game, no distribution, no pace

Carpenter - 4 off the pace

Hammond - 6 tried hard, was involved in anything positive that happened

Cox - 4 looks a little bit startled at the moment, confidence needs a boost

Fraser - 4 off the pace, looked lightweight

Hart - 5 battled but no end result

Revell - 5 as above

Gatting 5 as above (on for Fraser after about an hour)

Robinson 5 as above (on for hart with about 10 mins left)
