Ravens View of Scunthorpe

They moaned at every tackle we put in, they constantly hassled the referee Man Utd style when he gave decisions to us or failed to give them free kicks as they dived around the pitch.

Billy "the idiot" Sharp up front was the worst and all the hype round him has clearly gone to his head and he acted like an idiot for 90 minutes.

He was booked for sarcastically applauding the referee when he did get a free kick. Sparrow then got red carded in the 90th minute (2nd yellow) for a truly awful (potentially leg breaking) studs up straight into Gattings shin challange.

El-Abd did another bit of his play acting after confroting Sparrow as he was going off and soon there was conflict all over the pitch.

Butters and Crosby had various words throughout the game (at every corner) but at the end Butters saved Crosby from doing something stupid as he ranted and argued with the referee and refused to shake El-Abds hand.

It made for some cracking entertainment.

The highlight was when Sharp was throwing one of his tantrum and the South Stand responded with "your gonna cry in a minute" which had the Scunthorpe bench doubled up in laughter.

So the match. We played some great football but just couldnt get the ball in the net. We had two scrammbled chances that they somehow kept out of the net.

Totally against the run of play Beckford gets the ball on the edge of the box, turns Butters, nobody steps in to tackle him and he calmly places the ball into the corner of the net giving Flinders no chance.

Flinders made one great save towards the end, but on Saturday he and the centrebacks nearly gave away 2 goals after Flinders did not come out to collect the ball.

In the end Lynch decided if we wereunder any pressure to put the ball out in touch rather than expect Flinders to come out of his 6 yard box.

Once Scunny had scored the crowd went quite for the first time, but then Revell got his head to a high bouncing ball, superby nodded it in the direction of Savage who read the move, got to the ball first and lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper from the edge of the box for the equaliser and the first Withdean moonwalk.

Other than the sending off the last 15 minutes were the dullest of the match, but before the game I would have taken a point, I think we deserved all 3!

Flinders - 6 not as commanding as previous games, but another great save got us a point

El-Abd - 5 for play acting again - stop it you fool. Did well playing at Left Back

Butters - 7 solid game, but turned easuly for the goal

Lynch - 9 kept Sharp under control and did his talking with his feet - superb stuff

O'Cearuill - 7 solid game at right back

Cox - 7 worked hard and always trying to create

Bertin - 8 solid display, some great tackling and worked hard

Hammond - 7 solid, often drifted out wide

Robinson - 6 worked hard, still the final ball isnt quite there

Savage - 8 worked hard and a great goal

Revell - 6 not his best match, but his effort paid off when he set up the goal

Gatting - 6 not much impact, dreadful tackle on him has I expect left a few stud marks on his leg
