The game started with Reid in at left back (Lynch on the bench) and Gatting in for Robinson who was also on the bench.
Depsite MGhee playing down the importance of the match, Leicester were desperate for the game to start and before the Fatty Taxman could even start singing Tiffany we were 1 down after our defence stopped, looking for a free kick, and Leicester said thank you very much.
We kicked off, suddenly Leicester broke free, 2 quick good passes and the Leciester number 8 was one on one with Henderson and it was 0-2.
For the rest of the half we didnt have any ideas of how to get back in the game.
Second half and we finally appeared to turn up, we put pressure on a poor Leicester side and with 30+ mins left Frutos gave us hope after the Leicester keeper gifted him the ball.
We did push on but didnt look dangerous. Then to make it worse Hammond gets his second yellow in the 88th minute and he is off for an early bath.
So 5 points adrift, I will be going to Norwich, but I have to say with little hope. IMHO McGhee cannot get the best out of the players.
I know we have a limited budget and a limited squad, but for the first time in years we look second best by a long way, lose to poor sides, look unfit, uninspired and the passion and belief has gone. Last time we went down, we went down fighting. This time (and I hope I am wrong) we are sinking rapidly and without much fuss
Henderson - 6 left exposed for both goals
Reid - 4 NOT A LEFT BACK MCGHEE, not difficult one to work out
Butters - 5 gave his all again
McShane - 5 dragged out of positon trying to cover everyone else
El-Abd -5 committed, but looked pressured
Carpenter - 3 never in the game, injuries have taken a toll on his stamina and pace
Hammond - 3 looks tired and out of sorts, perhaps his suspension will do him good
Frutos - 6 always loking to trying and create, but not much support
Carole - 7 great player, always looking to get in the action, but like Frutos needs support
Hart - 3 did he play?
Gatting - 5 battled hard, a tough first start
Roinson - 6 looked lively, but there is very little interaction with other players
Martin, CKR, Hinshelwood, lynch not used. Why none of these were thrown on for the last 10 minutes annoyed me.
Why bother having another striker on the bench?
Why not put Hinshelwood on and throw a big lad up front?
Did McGhee really believe the players on the pitch were going to equalise?
To sum it all up these comments from McGhee made me laugh
"But the rest of the game we did nothing wrong. In fact we won it 1-0."
THATS BECAUSE LEICESTER WERE 2-0 UP AND SAT BACK AND DEFENDED!!!!!!
And the final big wind up of the day was there were NO buses back into Brighton after the game! The queue was down the road, I gave up after 15 minutes and walked to Preston Park station and went home totally fed up with the Albion
