Ravens View of Leicester

We left Brighton at 2pm and arrived in Leicester just after 4.30. It was straight into the Swan and Rushes, one of the best real ale pubs in the city.

Met up with a few who had come up earlier, we moved on to the Robert Peel and then it was time to head to the ground. Met Liz outside who had handily had work in Leicester on Tuesday (I wonder how that was arranged!).

We sat about half way back and the turn out was much better than I expected (750?) and we easily out sang the 20,000 librarians in football shirts.

On to the pitch (yes you see I can mention football if I try hard) and the first 45 minutes were pretty poor. Leicester missed 3 great chances just before the break as our team wee already planning who to sit next to for the half time team talk and the dilemma of tea or orange juice. I think it was Roberts for them who somehow managed to nearly hit the corner flag when all he had to do was put a shot on target!

Tiatto should have been red carded for 2 bookable fouls, but the referee bottled it. The Ref however had to give every decision as the 2 muppets with flags waited for the Ref to give every throw before pointing in the same direction. What a waste of space they were.

Second half and it was a different game. Free flowing attacking football and chances at both ends. Henderson made 2 superb saves, one a great double save which finished with Mayo clearing off the line, but them Hammond missed 2 great chances.

The first saw him tamely side foot a shot after great work by Carole, the keeper got down well, but it should have been 1-0 to us, then worse to come. A great cross from Carole after good work by CKR,and Hammond is at the back post. I was up celebrating only to see derisive Leicester fans laughing at us! Hammond was in the net, the ball wasn't!

How!!.

Next, Carole is put free on the half way line, he looks tired and he cant outpace the defender so shoots from the edge of the box and nearly makes the corner flag.

Still the second 45 was superb, and a draw probably the right result, but it would be nice to turn some of these 1 points into 3 points!

Henderson - 8 made some crucial good saves and my MOTM

Reid - 6 distribution was a bit iffy

Mayo - 5 as above

Butters - 8 great game

McShane - 8 as above

Oatway - 5 out of his depth again

Hammond - 7 would have been a 9 and MOTM if he had scored!

Carole - 6 quieter game, but sprang to life at times, needs to believe he can beat players

Jarrett - 6 involved in loads of runs at the Leicester defence, if only the final ball was more accurate

Knight - 7 worked hard, marked well

CKR - 6 battled, once again marked well

Frutos (for Jarrett) - 5 not really enough time to get going
