We joined the other 1,000+ Albion fans behind the goal and looked forward to a match that could go either way.
The match was one of effort and committment from both sides, the quality slightly missing!
After nearly 20 minutes Savage suddenly wins the ball back, surges forward and then next thing we know the ball is in the net and the moonwalking celebration is being acted out.
I think Bas's early shot caught the keeper off guard and he reacted way way too late.
After that it was pretty much 80 minutes of soaking up the pressure. The back 5 (including Flinders) did a sterling job in keeping Gillingham out of danger areas, they did finally get through in the last minute but they headed against the post.
Hammond and Bertin were playing great defensive holding midfield roles and restricted Gillingham getting into goal scoring positions!
So 3 in a row, bring on Bristol City!
Flinders - 7 solid display considering the short notice (although he had played several games at Gillingham on loan this season)
El-Abd - 8 great battler
Butters - 8 as above
Lynch - 8 class, hope he is not badly injured
Rents - 7 solid
Hammond - 7 great tracking back
Bertin - 8 my MOTM, puts some metal in our midfield
Cox - 7 getting back to his early season form
Ward - 7 did Ok but not a great match for attacking midfielders
Savage - 8 puts himself about and deserves goals
Gatting - 5 poor match, looked lethargic at times
Revell (for Savage)- 7
O'Ceaurill - 8 great display when at centre back
Fraser - 7 held the defense for the last 25 minutes!
