Ravens View of Brighton v Bristol City - We gift 4 goals so what do we expect?

Last updated : 17 November 2003 By Mark R
Goal Number 1
Mayo goes over to the right to take a free kick. As usual it goes straight to a Bristol City player and he lumps the ball down the right wing to the man Mayo had been marking, who has acres of space as nobody had the intelligence to cover Mayo, Roberts dashes out to the edge of the box and the player knocks the ball over him and its 0-1.

Goal 2 and 3
Simple crosses from the right wing and easy headers as Cullip and Butters marked nobody and neither made any challenge. No marking but Roberts got nowhere near either of them despite spectacular dives.

Goal 4
Linesman had his flag up but changed his mind. Summed up the day really

Bristol have been so bad recently that they only managed to bring about 500 fans yesterday, they milked every moment of it

Ratings

Roberts - 2 poor
Mayo - 2 poor
Hinshelwood 2 poor
Cullip 1 why is he still skipper?
Butters 1 statuesque on crosses
Rehman 1 glad he came off
Yeates 4 had a bad first half, but second half was my MOTM
Carpenter 4 once again must despair at team mates ineptitude
Hart 2 has lost it big time, manages to regularly pick up yellow cards
Knight 4 battled hard and anyone who has 14 goals playing for a bad team wont be playing in Div 2 for long!
McPhee 4 battled hard but no service

Subs
Piercy 3 tried hard, but didn't make much difference
Pethick 3 as above
Robinson 3 only had 10 minutes, we should have put him on as an extra attacker, not replacing one

I am glad the next games is in Nottingham as it is always one of the best away trips, with some great pubs to visit. We have 22 on our early morning train trip (well at #13 a ticket from Brighton to Nottingham it was always going to be popular), but it's a nightmare getting to London as the track is closed again between Brighton and Three Bridges (as it will be the following Saturday as well)

Still what ever happens we will have a good day out, regardless of the 90 minutes on the pitch! We also have the delights of the Nottingham Constabulary to contend with - the only down side to visiting Notts County!

See some of you in "The trip to Jerusalem" pub? I think we will struggle to take 500 , compared to the usual following of around 1,000 for this sort of match.

Ps Argus apparently mentions Kuipers going to Hull as long as we don't want too much money for him!
