Ravens View of Brighton 0-1 Burnley

I was a little surprised to find Knight out wide, but for the first 20 minutes we knocked the ball about and look composed and the better side.

Burnley gradually pulled the game round to dominate all over the pitch. I thought we had the players on the pitch and on the bench to respond to the problems, but was surprised again at the tactical changes.

Knight was allowed about 2 minutes with Claridge once Jones had come on, before Hart took over the forward roll. Mayo replaced Harding who washaving one of his better days.

I thought Mayo and Jones did liven the game up, but it would have been better to have Knight up front IMHO.

Kuipers had an off day, was he missing the leadership of Cullip? The goal was dreadful, Butters headed the ball up, Kuipers missed a punch clearance (one of several).

The win for Burnley was probably justly deserved and they created several good chances, hit the bar, the post and had one cleared off the line.

We created one chance through Oatway, and Jones possibly should have scored towards the end, not really sure what happened.

In the Evening it was back the Welly for a charity auction and race night, with any money being split between the Albion fund and The Royal Alex Childrens Hospital.

Before the game a mate had a separate raffle for a signed Gordon Smith picture from 1983 which raised £318 and I had the winning ticket (hence my optimistic start to the day!).

The race night was a great laugh and half way through (after the free buffet) it was on to 4 signed shirts being auctioned. The Brighton shirt was up first and after a few beers I found my bids going up and £150 later the shirt was mine.

A Millwall cup final shirt went for £205, a Chelsea away shirt for £250 and a Spurs shirt for £70. I don't know the final total raised but once again a big thanks to the Duke of Wellington who paid the cost of the race night and organised all the auction shirts!

Kuipers - 4 first poor game for a long time

Reid - 6 looked good

Harding - 6 bit more composed

Hinshelwood - 7 solid display

Butters - 7 as above

Nicholas - 6 hope he gets his ankle problem sorted!

Carpenter - 3 not good!

Oatway - 6 got stuck in, but not creative, but that wasn't his role!

Currie - 6 still has a great ability to get the fans on there feet

Knight - 7 played well in a new role, deserves a chance to partner Claridge upfront

Claridge - 5 didn't win much all day, but was left isolated for the last 70 minutes

Hart - 5 didn't have much impact

Mayo - 6 linked up well with Jones

Jones - 6 ran at the opposition, must have McGhee considering him as an option to change a match!
