Ravens View of Bournemouth

Henderson was dropped from the bench and I think it was Sullivan along with Butters, Robinson, Loft and El-Abd.

I thought the crowd looked reasonable despite only about 200 from Bournemouth (very poor support - but every now and then they were quite noisy).

The first half saw Bournemouth look the better passing team, we looked up for it, but very inexperienced and lacked the cutting edge. Neither side had any real chances, Cox had one long range effort, then Bournemouth went 1-0 with a simple goal, bad marking.

Just before half time Fraser gave away a foul as two players ended up on the floor, next thing you know the referee has sent a Bournemouth player off for stamping on Fraser. I missed it, a few said he walked backwards and stepped on him and didn't look intentional.

At half time the C&G trophy winning Sussex Sharks team paraded round the ground. Sid the shark did his corner flag pole dance and Adams and Mushy were mobbed down by us. A well deserved celebration.

Second half and we started passing the ball about. Frutos had a great chance running in as the ball rebounded to him but his header was palmed away by the keeper. From the corner another melee, the ball was eventually headed home powerfully by Hammond. He was having a better game, but this inspired him to really get going for about 15 minutes.

Not long after Revell latched on to a cross and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

We were really on top, Bournemouth made a sub, the big lumbering Steve Fletcher, but it changed the game. We had spent the entire match passing the ball to Mayo to launch the ball up front, it worked occasionally. Now it was Bournemouth's turn to do this.

They won a dubious free kick right in front of us, in went the kick and nobody moved and it was 2-2 as the free header was put into the far corner from Kuipers.

About 5 minutes later a free kick from the same place, same result, but somehow the ball went past the post this time.

These two events came after Hammond had failed to beat the keeper when well placed. Towards the end Frutos put across a great ball, but it was inches in front of Revell and Robinson (who was now on for Hart).

Anyway I thought we looked a young team, who wanted to do well, which makes a change!

Kuipers - 6 no chance with either goal

Reid - 6 looked comfortable at right back, managed to get forward to add to the pressure

Santos - 6 one or two free kicks given away

Lynch - 6 gaining valuable experience

Mayo - 6 the good the bad and the ugly - typical Mayo game

Fraser - 6 battled hard but hit the wall with 10 minutes left, finally replaced in the last minute

Hammond - 7 my MOTM, lets hope the new manager inspires him

Cox - 6 once again always wanted the ball, looks a handful to mark

Frutos - 6 got better as the game progressed, hope it gets back to his best

Revell - 6 good goal, worked hard, often finds himself too deep

Hart - 6 ran and ran as usual and he was more nervous than us watching when subbed.

Robinson - 5 no impact when he came on

El-Abd and Loft only on for a couple of minutes
