Ravens View of BHA V QPR

Last updated : 20 September 2004 By Bob Gear

For the first 10 minutes we were dire, QPR finally scored after Cullip slipped.

After that we sprang to life. McPhee put over a great cross along the ground, Virgo somehow missed but Hinshelwood buried the ball in the roof of the next from 2 yards out!

Then Currie scored from his third free kick. Day was so far to one side he left Currie 50% of the goal unguarded and he curled the ball in.

2-1 up and we were on the up.

Half time and what a change.

We couldn't pass, we just stopped playing and invited QPR to run and shoot almost as they pleased. We should have gone 3 subs with 20/25 left, but no leave it too late and poor old Leon got on with 3 minutes on the clock!

Unfortunately Jarrett who did come on gave away a stupid free kick that resulted in the QPR winner. They had about 10 minutes before scored a good goal, Furlong exchanging a 1-2 to split our defence and he finished well.

The third goal was dreadful defending in the 90th minute. We had at least 3 chances to clear the ball, but once again Harding gifted the ball back to the opposition and they scored with a good strike, but all of our own making.

Kuipers - 7 not that much to do, but no chance with the goals
El-Abd - 6 reasonable game
Harding - 3 dreadful match again, when will he learn to hoof the ball clear rather than gift the ball to the opposition
Mayo - 5 out of position but coped well for most of the game
Cullip - 3 just not his day
Hinshelwood - 4 not a midfielder
Nicolas - 5 a poor game by his recent standards
Hammond - 4 as above
Currie - 8 MOTM by a long way
McPhee - 5 set up the goal, but didn't really look like scoring
Virgo - 5 not his day

Jarrett (El-Abd)- 5 had a go when he came on , but a costly free kick given away in the 90th minute
Carpenter (Nicolas)- 5 on too late so not much chance to shine, good to see him back
Knight (??)- no mark as didn't have a chance as on toooooo late

Still at least we are tucked in at the bottom half and not adrift at the bottom!

Gillingham, Forest, Sheff Utd, Crewe & Cardiff to come. They are all struggling as well.
