We went up to Grimsby on Saturday morning, checked into our Hotel and were at the beer festival around 3pm. We had a taste of 'victory', then became 'bitter and twisted' then I have no idea what the rest were called!

Later on we decided to move on and started our marathon trawl round the pubs of Grimsby. We ended up in Smugglers and the place was soon heaving, but as a lot of the people in there are not our favourite drinking companions, moved on to Nottingham, the pub of course!

By the time we had bought our next round the Police vans and cars speed down the road to the place we had just left, lucky timing? not really as it was obvious something was happening!

Our 'big' group sort of split up and in the next pub we met up with Darren and Paul W. and proceeded to drink more quantities of beer and spirits, we moved back to Smugglers and drank away the rest of the night.

I have vague memories of Liz and I walking along the sea front and back to our
hotel , apparently we strolled back (took us nearly an hour) and my only real memory is off a lad zig zagging around in front of us, finding him slumped over a wall, checking he was ok, which in between his vomiting bouts he told us he was. About 20 minutes later he came strolling past us looking a lot better!

Sunday morning was a struggle. I felt really rough, and nobody looked much better! We got a bus into Cleethorpes, had a stroll along the beach, bumping into all the usual faces, no sign of Darren, and when we saw Paul I knew how he felt!

Ended up in the Leaking Boot and sat in the beer garden. Spoke briefly to Gary C and Pete J, good to see everyone again.

At 12.45 we headed for the ground. We stood to the right of the goal and the atmosphere was building and building. I wont say that much about the game as most people saw or listened to it, but a draw was a fair result, neither side coped with the strong wind and whistle happy referee.

My biggest problem from the game was when Grimsby made it 2-2, number 31 Keane ran over in front of us pointed his hands to the ground and motioned going down several times, laughing and grinning at us , standing in front of us.

No surprise when it nearly all kicked off as Brighton fans reacted. Once Stoke went 1-0 up it was all over.

At the final whistle Cullip came over and applauded us, he was gutted. We andered on to the pitch, then back to the Leaking boot to meet up with a mate for a lift home. Our hooligan element was at that time being chased down the road by Police horses, riot Police and Riot vans.

Still next season we have trips to a couple of places we haven't visited for a while, Barnsley & Luton plus a trip for the first time to Rushden.

I hope Cardiff win the play offs now, and not particularly looking forward to Oldham, Plymouth or Chesterfield. Still we get visits to seaside resorts of Grimsby (again) and Blackpool, plus back to Peterborough which is always fun!

Roll on pre-season away friendly matches, and of course Premiership Leicester City on August 4th.
