Poyet urges fringe players to battle for places

Brighton boss Gus Poyet insists the players sent out on loan last season could still have a future at the club. Craig Davies, who spent time on loan at Port Vale last term, recently completed a move to Chesterfield but Poyet says the situation may not necessarily be the same for everyone. Andrew Whing, James Tunnicliffe and Jim McNulty had spells at Chesterfield, MK Dons and Scunthorpe respectively last season. Poyet told The Argus: "I respect those players because they are under contract with me. "I don't know what happens next. It could be good for them to stay and fight for place and try to play regularly here. "It's not easy. I can't tell them they will play here week in, week out. What I can say is whoever is playing best will be in the team."
