Brighton manager Gus Poyet is confident they can be in the League One automatic promotion picture next season - if he gets the players he wants.Chairman Tony Bloom wants Albion to be in the Championship in time for the opening of their new stadium in 2011.

Poyet told a BBC Sussex Fans forum: "I know he's going to push for that, and I know he'll give me the money I need.

"We won't go crazy. But I'm sure it's going to be enough for me to get the right players."

Poyet claims the players have underachieved for the past two seasons, but believes investment is vital.

He said: "I'm sure that's he's going to understand the kind of players that we need to play the football I want to be able to get to the Championship."

The Uruguayan already has a few targets in mind, adding: "I'm pretty convinced we're going have a better squad to challenge. We need to be realistic.

"For different reasons we were not able to challenge for anything during the last two years. It's easy to blame the manager, but the players have to accept their responsibility. So there are going be a few changes."
