Sources reveal that agreement is likely to be reached between the Clubs on a deal, it is not known at this stage whether this involves a swap.

However, the stumbling block may well be that the player has already talked negatively about any move, stating that he wishes to stay at Ipswich and fight for his place. Coventry City Manager Micky Adams had a bid that could have risen to £200,000 turned down by Ipswich last week.

Ipswich Chief Executive Derek Bowden said: "We are under no pressure to sell and would probably not be interested in a player swap but rather a cash deal if a club came up with the right offer."

Parkin moved to Portman Road from Swindon for the start of last Season, scoring just 5 goals in the Championship from 21 appearances. Parkin has also played for Northampton, Oldham & Wycombe, mainly in the 3rd tier of English football.

He also had a spell at Millwall with current Albion Manager Mark McGhee, Sams most prolific spell was with Swindon scoring 73 goals in 142 appearances.
