OFF, OFF, OFF, OFF, Brighton 2-0 Luton

Brighton had three enforced changes to the team that lost 1-0 at Barnsley on Saturday. Danny Cullip had limped off from that game to be replaced by Robbie Pethick, his replacement today was Guy Butters.

Paul Watson was suffering from a recurrence of his sore foot arches problem, and was replaced by Robbie Pethick today, with Adam Hinshelwood moving to Right Back.

Charlie Oatway came in to cover Simon Rodger today & took the captains armband from Danny at the same time.

After 16 minutes a long cross-ball reached Darius Henderson past the back post, Henderson controlled the ball & fired it towards the back post, it took a big deflection off Luton defender Chris Coyne, and went into the back of the Luton net.

1-0 to The Albion.

Both teams had a 100% record for the season until Saturday, Luton lost at Home to Grimsby 2-1. Brighton were the much stronger team throughout the first half and continued to dominate without looking much like scoring.

The only other real chance of the half saw a Richard Carpenter free-kick saved by the Luton Keeper.

Little Leon Knight came close with a diving header before the inevitable sending off occured. Play was stopped by the Ref, who then sent off Luton's Centre forward Steve Howard for foul and abusive language.

Then came the Mike Newell Incident. Chris McPhee was chasing a long clearance out of defence, as the ball ran towards the touchline by the away dugout, Mike Newell tackled and stopped Chris McPhee from chasing toward the Luton Goal.

The Ref could do no more than send him off for a most blatant piece of gamesmanship. he shouldn't be allowed near the touchline if he can't restrain himself!

Soon after Charlie Oatway wrapped up the three points with a decent strike from outside the box which the keeper allowed to slip through his fingers.

2-0 Game over.

The win takes Brighton up to 3rd place with 9 points from 12.
