Simon Rodger got a knee ligament injury in the League Cup game against the eventual winners Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, and has not played since.

Charlie Oatway picked up a hamstring injury in the opening game of the season at Reading, Richard Carpenter had a knee operation in pre-season while Chris McPhee damaged his foot in the summer.

Meanwhile Dan Harding has joined up with the England Under 21 squad despite his hamstring injury. The squad are currently at Lilleshall, so Harding is receiving treatment in those excellent surroundings.

He is not likely to be available for the game in Poland on Thursday, but could be in contention for Austria on Tuesday next week.

Assistant manager Bob Booker, talking to the Official Site about the players coming back from injury said "This game on Thursday is an extra bonus for the lads coming back and a chance to get some match action under their belts. They're working hard doing their pre-season training that they missed, having not done what the other players have done."

There is also a reserve game on Tuesday against Crawley, so the four returning players could well feature in the squad that travels to Vicarage Road, Watford.
