Brighton were the better team early on, but the visitors soon took charge of the game.

The impressive Lee Morris hit a post midway through the first half before Leon Best gave them a 38th minute lead.

The Brighton defence had several chances to clear their lines but, when they failed to do so, Yeovil captain Terry Skiverton headed the ball back into the penalty area. Best, on loan from Southampton, chest it into his own path before scoring with a left-foot shot in off the post.

Morris, putting his career back on track after injury problems, doubled Yeovil's lead in the 47th minute.

It had an element of fortune about it after Brighton midfielder Tommy Fraser carelessly gave away possession. Martin Brittain crossed to the near post for Morris to score with an angled shot which took a deflection off challenging Brighton defender Guy Butters.

Arron Davies killed Brighton off with Yeovil's third goal on 59 minutes with a right-foot snapshot from the edge of the area which bounced passed the diving Wayne Henderson.

The game was well and truly up for the home team at that stage, but they rallied to give the score line a degree of respectability.

Joe Gatting, brought on early in the second half, side-footed against the outside of a post from the edge of the box shortly after Davies stretched Yeovil's lead.

Gatting then pulled a goal back with 19 minutes remaining, his first at senior level in the League. Dean Cox fed him inside the area and, with Yeovil looking for an offside flag, Gatting turned to score with a shot which keeper Steve Mildenhall got a hand to but could not keep out.

The result means Yeovil have increased their advantage over Brighton in the chase for a play-off place to seven points.
