Match Report for BHA 0-1 Burnley

Brighton's poor home form continued with their fifth defeat out of ten in the Championship at the hands of away day specialists Burnley.

Robbie Blake's tenth goal of the season after 70 minutes gave Steve Cotterill's side their first victory at Brighton for 32 years.

Albion manager Mark McGhee was forced to reorganise in the absence of the suspended Danny Cullip, his captain and central defender, and defender-turned-top scorer Adam Virgo.

McGhee opted for a 4-5-1 formation, with the veteran Steve Claridge up front by himself on his home debut.

Brighton were in charge in the opening 15 minutes as Claridge headed on to the roof of the net, Leon Knight drove into the side netting and Charlie Oatway forced a fine save out of Brian Jensen.

The visitors controlled the match after Brighton's initial promise and the should have been in front by half-time.

Graham Branch back-headed against the home crossbar from a Tony Grant corner and Mo Camara glanced a header against a post from an Ian Moore cross.

Brighton continued to miss the aerial presence of Cullip and Virgo when defending set-pieces.

Moore seemed sure to score when another corner, this time from Blake, was headed towards the far post by Michael Duff - but his header was blocked on the line by Paul Reid as Burnley appealed for hand ball.

Blake finally made the breakthrough from another Grant corner. Guy Butters headed it up into the air and Brighton keeper Michels Kuipers, challenged by Camara, could only punch clear as far as James O'Connor.

The midfielder, on loan from West Brom, fed Blake, who swivelled to find the roof of the net from close range.

Burnley have only been beaten twice away from home now in the Championship and they have kept five clean sheets on their travels.
