Kanchelskis is not joining Brighton

As well as the Kanchelskis news, there is news that more fringe players have gone out on loan to non-league clubs.

Dean Hammond has joined Conference side Aldershot on a months loan, and Shaun Wilkinson has gone to Havant & Waterlooville.

They join Carl Wilson-Denis & Danny Marney (Crawley) Dan Beck (Bognor) and Michels Kuipers (Hull City) looking to get first team football away from Brighton.

The 34-year-old former Manchester United winger has been training with the Seagulls since the start of August and was offered a three-month contract, but Coppell confirmed today: "He won't be joining us.

"It has never really been an issue. He has trained with us to get fit and as far as I am concerned that was the prime motivation for the whole thing.

"At one stage there was a suggestion he might want to sign for us, but we knew right from day one we weren't on the same football pitch as regards finance"
