Iwelumo signs for Brighton

By the end of this week the deal should become a permanent signing until the end of this Season, which means that the one loan that Mark McGhee is still allowed can come back into play.

There will be no money paid up front for Iwelumo. However there is a number of circumstances that would trigger payment to Stoke. These include the Albion reaching the play-offs, gaining promotion & Chris signing a further permanent contract beyond this Season.

Iwelumo is no stranger to getting out of this division by the play-off route. He scored 12 goals as Stoke went up via Cardiff 2 years ago, while we won that Division ahead of Reading.

McGhee has apparently been chasing this player for a while now, and his continued absence from the Stoke line-up has allowed him to negotiate a good deal for the player.

He is a little concerned about Iwelumo's lack of match fitness, and would like to use that final loan signing to bring Trevor Benjamin back from Leicester for his final allowed month. The theory being that this would give Iwelumo some time to get back into the swing of things.
