It's time to Write a letter (again) for Brighton Supporters

The Albion are encouraging you to write letters in support of the vital planning application by the University of Brighton to redevelop their campus. Without this permission there can be no stadium - the land released by the redevelopment is the land we need for the stadium.

We are being asked to write in support of the University of Brighton's application to remodel its campus, and we're encouraging Seagulls fans to let the council know how strongly we back the plans, which are vital in respect of the new stadium we wish to build next door.

This should be the last letter we need to write to help us to win Falmer.

Here are some points you might like to make in your letters:

. The university is an important national and international institution.

. It is one of the city's assets and operates in a competitive environment where students have massive choice.

. It therefore needs a pleasant, modern campus providing up-to-date facilities and excellent teaching and academic facilities to attract students.

. The old buildings are outdated, poorly designed and do nothing to enhance the image of a modern vibrant university.

. The city needs its universities to survive and thrive. The student population in the city is huge and a fundamental part of the local economy.

. The proposed development at Falmer completes the redevelopment of the campus to bring it into the modern age.

Letters of support should be sent to Ms Jenny Rowlands, Director of Environmental Services, Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove BN3 3BQ. The application number is BH2003/00659/OA.
