"I came here because Gus is Uruguayan and I think he will improve me as a player, so it's a new opportunity for me," he said.
"The Premier League is the best league in the world with the best players but I am looking forward to playing in League one.
"I haven't had the opportunity at Stoke and I'm very happy to be here, so I am looking forward to playing when Gus wants to use me.
"I knew nothing about Brighton before Gus called me, so I researched the city and the team on the internet and I like the way Gus plays because he tries to play good football."
