Club Announcement on New Manager

Last updated : 08 July 2002 By Bob Gear
Last week it was announced by the Club that all the candidates had either turned down the job or been rejected by the Club, with the exception of one remaining candidate.

It has now been announced that the Club have failed in their bid to talk to ex Brighton Midfielder Danny Wilson, currently Manager at Bristol City. If Danny was the outstanding candidate why did it take 6 weeks before Bristol City were approached? Was Danny the one candidate left? Or was that statement made knowing City's response.

Another statement by the Club today pours cold water on the speculation linking Arsenal & England Centre back Tony Adams with the job and the Number 5 Shirt. Martin Perry, Chief Exec at the Albion spoke to the Argus saying 'He is certainly not under consideration. Tony Adams has no connection with the Brighton Job'

Where do the Club go now in the search for a new Manager? Dick Knight is thought to be resisisting an Internal appointment, having stated that he is looking for a Manager with a proven track record. Does he have any other options left?
