BHA 2-0 Weds - Good old Sussex by the Sea

I met my Wolves supporting mates who were depressed by the time I arrived and they were 2-0 down. By 5-0 they looked as gloomy as the people who have to live in East Croydon! They desperately wanted wanted West Brom to get thrashed up at Selhurst, all we wanted a nice Albion win!

Our mate from Southport had a Sheffield Wednesday fan with him and he said that if we played football we would beat them quite easily. We arrived at the ground in plenty of time for kick off (arrived slightly early in case the cricket presentation was before the game).

Kevin Pressman was decked out in bright Orange, quite brave for a keeper with a growing girth!

The match started so well for us. We were playing the ball to feet and looked well up for it. After 7 minutes Mayo spots Knight holding himself back for a run on the right hand side.

A superb ball from Mayo, perfect control from Knight, a small run forward and before you could shout "Shooooot" Knight had stroked the ball across the front of Pressman and into the far left hand side of the goal. It was a great finish and Knight looked mighty happy.

We then proceeded to play the best attacking football for a while. We didn't have to wait long for the next goal.......well we thought we had scored.....Hart shot it must have hit the stanchion holding the net up and ran along the outside of the goal (looked like it ran along the back on the net to us) before mysteriously running out the hole in the back of the net, to leave us in the South stand looking rather stupid!

Harty then rattled the bar from 25 yards, once again it looked to us as if it had crossed the line, seeing the TV highlights it bounced back out and was not even close to the line!

Kuipers pulled off a great save after Mayo nearly gifted Wednesday an equaliser, he got down well and blocked the shot.

Second half and we still looked the better side. Knight somehow missed a header from 5 yards (headed it straight as a bullet, shame he was not infront of goal), Henderson failed to stretch and reach a Knight cross then we scored the "pinball" goal of the season after McPhee had replaced Knight.

A cross caused confusion, the ball rebounded out to Butters, who skilfully controlled the ball, hit a screamer which Pressman somehow turned on to the bar, before rebounding out to McPhee whos slightly miss hit shot ended up in the back of the net!

Woo Hoo - cue time for about 100+ Sheffield Wednesday fans to walk out! After the game and it was back to the Basketmakers and then the Lord Nelson.

Oh how I love Saturday football!

Half time had been a great occasion as well. Sussex cricket club paraded the cup around Withdean, what a shame that the majority of Wednesday fans didn't applaud but just stood there chanting " Yorkshire, Yorkshire".

Still I hope Yorkshire enjoy the next county championship campaign once again in Division 2!

A great day and now the chance to have a go at Premiership Middlesborough.
