Three in a row

I am glad that Steve Coppell has more motivational skills and belief in his and the players ability than me. I will also hold my hands up thinking Rougier was a waste of a loan signing and we should have kept Roberts!

After reverting back to last seasons rituals before the Bradford game, I decided that was not the reason for winning so revert back to being in Worthing for opening time (one of our mates Birthdays so had to meet him early doors to get a nice pint off him).

We were in the Evening Star by 1pm and then up to the Wellington for 1.30. There was a very low key Police presence which surprised me but then again other than 4 lads in the Star I hadn't seen any Millwall supporters about.

As for the game, well it was scrappy but we wanted the win. Zamora was unlucky first half when he hit the inside of the post. Second half and Coppell took off the ineffective Brooker and introduced Rougier.

A quick throw, Barrett battled well, pushed it through towards goal and Rougier slid in and hit the ball past the Millwall keeper.

Woo Hoo!

After that Millwall started to get into the game and the 15 year old number 15 put himself about and looked dangerous, but Cullip was just too good and experienced for him.

The only defensive scare was in the last minute. Besant came out to claim the ball, missed it and the ball was goal side of him, but so were about 20 players, so we survived.

At the final whistle Rougier came over to applaud the South Stand, and once again Steve Gritt left to a good ovation. Roll on Gillingham next week.

The Millwall lads on the bus on the way back asked how the game went as they could see very little of what was going on during the 90 minutes as the away stand is so far back and low down!

They said they deserved nothing out the game, but didn't think much of us either, apart from Zamora.

My ratings

Besant - 6 not a lot to do, but almost mucked up 90 minutes of good work Watson - 8 best defensive game this season
Mayo - 6 got forward well
Blackwell - 7 solid
Cullip - 8 superb as ever
Igimarsson - 8 great cover at the back
Brooker - 5 out of sorts
Carpenter - 6 solid
Roger - 7 some great covering
Zamora - 7 some great touches and unlucky not to score
Barrett - 5 first half, 8 after the substitution

Subs
Rougier - 8 battled, fought, scored, great celebration, fell over the ball as well later on!
