Reading

We have played really well recently with a back 5, freeing up Mayo, Jones down the left and Pethick covering for mistakes.

Today we reverted back to 4-5-1 (I think!) with Jones left lost and bewildered at left midfield, no cover at the back, and hence Pethick misplaces a header and its 1-0 to Reading!

At times BZ had to come back and try and get the ball as the service was non existent. Sadly Chippy had an off day and to be honest I don't think we eserved a point.

At one point BZ got the ball, beat about 6 players, decided that he would go alone rather than watch a team mate balls it up again, but couldn't get a decent shot in.

BZ looked very frustrated to me, he is class, but sadly doesn't have much class round him when Barrett is missing, and Brooker left on the bench. Webb made a difference when he came on as he put himself about a bit and gave 100% without resorting to falling over.

He looks a much better player to me now than he did last season. He is proving me wrong and I'm glad about that.

The Reading fans taunted us with 'Shall we sing a song for you" and "You're supposed to be at home". As good as our away support is, our home support is pathetic.

When the team needed lifting most people sat in silence! Why? Why sing away and then nothing at home?

Drowned our sorrows in pub afterwards, only good news was Sheff Wed, Bradford and Grimsby all getting beat and Stoke getting just a point.

Next week is the first 6 pointer of the season.
