On target: Millwall 8 Brighton 0

There's been a tavern or Inn on the site since Chaucer's days apparently. Some of the older readers might be able to confirm this Mike C/ Ralph? ;-)

We then moved on to pubs around Borough Market and visited 'The Market
Porter', 'The Wheatsheaf' and finally a huge pub called 'The Borough Arms'.

I think people were a little apprehensive as we headed to London Bridge to
catch a taxi to the New Den. The taxi dropped us near the away end and I
have to say things have changed.

No groups of lads hanging about and I saw loads of people in Brighton and Millwall shirts walking about!

We got into the sparsely populated ground and the Brighton turnout was very disappointing. The Stewards told me we had sold between 1,200 and 1,300 tickets.

As for the match, it was very poor. We had a Charlton Athletic lad with us
and at the end he said that it was a dull, boring, bad tempered match. We
created NOTHING.

I thought we battled well, but 99% of the time came off second best. Millwall were poor, but sadly we were worse.

The goal was a simple header from a corner. Butters, Cullip and Petterson
had NO understanding between the. On one occasion Butters had to almost lob
Petterson so he could clear a ball, at least he observed rule number 1,
play safe!

As for our midfield, what midfield? Marney and Brooker ran hard and did
take players on. Kitson had to come back deep to get the ball. We played several neat one twos but they lead nowhere.

We all missed the Pethick sending off, as it was an off the ball incident,
but according to Sky Sport it must have been a red as several Brighton
players had a go at Pethick as he walked off. Not Mr Cullip by chance?

After the game we suspected it would be back to the old days and a nice walk
back to South Bermondsey station! It was not, no hassle, no intimidation,
no threats, just a stroll back for the train.

I applaud Millwall as they appear to have sorted out the problems for the time being.

We headed back to London Bridge to catch the very end of the England match
and then a few of us headed of for a mates Wedding reception in Albourne.

We need Hinshelwood to sort out our midfield.

I normally say roll on the next match, but I have to sadly say that after
just 7 games I am apprehensive about who we are playing and how we will
score! Even Exeter seams a bit daunting!
