News From Sutton

Albion: (First half) Packham; Watson, Cullip, Virgo, Mayo, Pitcher, Rogers, Oatway, Brooker; Marney, Allen.

(Second half) Kuipers; Pethick, Hinshelwood, Hammond, Harding (Beck), Lee, Carpenter, Melton, Jones, McPhee, Wilkinson.

We arrived at Sutton about 7.15, paid our £7 entry fee and that was probably one of the highlights of the evening! A very sparse crowd 4/500 possibly, about 150 Albion.

It's a strange old ground, did it use to have a dog track/ Speedway/ Athletics track as the old terracing and main stand are away from the pitch and its almost circular.

One new terrace has been built behind the one goal, but it's a random set of older stands that make the place feel like a ground from the good old days of football.

Brighton struggled in the first half, the closest to a goal was Watto lobbing Packham but he managed to somehow tip the ball over the bar.

Melton scored the only goal just after half time, a great strike, will we see more of him next season, I hope so!

Zamora, Hart and Simon Morgan were interested spectators, no sign of Kanchelsis or Merson, but IMHO a typical pre-season match and we left 10 minutes before the end to avoid the rush!
