I went back to the old routine of being in the Duke of Wellington for opening time, then moved on to the Evening Star to meet up with the Brighton Wolves supporters plus a few of the London Wolves that had tickets.

They were all in a confident mood and it was then I hoped the Wolves team was as cocky as their supporters as we would then have a chance!

We got to the ground about 2.50 and the good news was that Carpenter was back in, Blackwell was starting and Hart replaced Barrett once again (was he on the bench?).

The game started messily and Wolves had one or two shots before Brighton got going. A long ball was played through, the Wolves defence stopped but Brooker didn't, he just managed to pull it back before it went out and Zamora headed the ball in, the keeper ,confirmed by those in H block, pushed the ball out from well behind the line!

The game was still scrappy but Wolves ex premiership prima donnas (very much like Derby players) just didn't want to know. Paul Ince was a joke, Kennedy did nothing, the only decent player for them was Alex Rae when he came on.

We out battled Wolves and deservedly went 2-0 up when Blackwell deflected a Chippy free kick into the bottom corner.

At half time everyone was still nervous about mentioning winning, some even said well a point would be good!

For once we started the second half superbly. Zamora broke down the left wing, looked up, placed a brilliant cross along the ground to Brooker who finished with a deadly strike giving the keeper no chance.

After that Wolves looked dispirited and the away end was rapidly emptying already. Loyal supporters? Pah, we stayed in at Selhurst when we where 5-0 down!

Wolves had a glimmer of hope when we allowed Rae to advance unchallenged, he released Kennedy who found Miller with a great cross and it was 3-1 and I was thinking no please not again!

No worries, Zamora breaks free places a great ball over the top to Hart, who holds off two defenders, rounds the keeper and its 4-1, it was a brilliant finish. Cue another mass walk out by Wolves supporters.

The final 25 minutes saw us play the game out. It was a shame Sheff Wed came back from 2-0 down, but we are 1 point behind them, 2 behind Stoke , 5 behind Grimsby and 10 behind Walsall. Put a run of 3 or 4 wins together and we can make it interesting.
